What is XQD and Why Should I Care About It?
Answer: XQD is a high-speed memory card format primarily used in professional cameras and devices that require ultra-fast data transfer speeds. It is especially relevant for users who work with 4K and 8K video, high-resolution photography, and other data-intensive applications.
- XQD
- XQD is a type of memory card developed by the SD Association, designed for high-performance applications. It supports faster read and write speeds than traditional SD cards, making it ideal for professional photographers and videographers.
- SD Association
- The SD Association is a global organization that develops and maintains standards for memory cards, including XQD and SD formats.
In my experience, I needed a reliable memory card for my Sony A7R IV camera, which supports XQD. I found that XQD cards offered significantly faster write speeds than my previous SD cards, which was crucial for capturing high-resolution images and 4K video without lag. To choose the best XQD card for your needs, consider the following:
- Check your camera or device compatibility to ensure it supports XQD cards.
- Look for cards with high read and write speeds, typically above 850 MB/s for professional use.
- Consider the storage capacity you need—common options include 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB.
- Verify the card’s endurance rating, especially if you plan to use it for long video shoots or continuous high-speed photography.
How to Compare XQD Cards on AliExpress?
Answer: When comparing XQD cards on AliExpress, focus on key specifications such as speed class, storage capacity, and brand reputation. This will help you find the best value for your money and ensure compatibility with your device. Here’s a comparison of three popular XQD cards available on AliExpress:
| Product | Speed (Read/Write) | Capacity | Brand | Price (USD) |
| XQD 128GB | 980 MB/s / 850 MB/s | 128GB | SanDisk | $120 |
| XQD 256GB | 950 MB/s / 800 MB/s | 256GB | Lexar | $180 |
| XQD 64GB | 900 MB/s / 750 MB/s | 64GB | Delkin | $85 |
When I was shopping for an XQD card, I compared these three options and found that the 128GB SanDisk card offered the best balance of speed and price for my needs. It was compatible with my camera and provided enough storage for a full day of shooting. To make your own comparison, follow these steps:
